A group of ten sentenced of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced charges of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.

A circulating false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the first lady's identity.

Their lawsuit alleges that Owens disregarded any factual proof disproving her claim in favour of give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
