Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
